Outlook for UmpquaNorthHighCascades

Smoke: Expect overall ‘Good’ air quality today through tomorrow for all reporting areas. A possibility of ‘Moderate’ air quality smoke impacts from Roseburg down to Grants Pass due to a small wildfire in Douglas County.

Fire: Minimal fire behavior yesterday and expected today. High Cascades Complex reported new growth of 245 acres with a total area of 79,870 acres and 32% containment. Umpqua North Complex has no new reported growth at 43,140 acres and 60% containment.

Other: NWS fire weather forecast: The warming and drying trend will continue through most of the week, with breezy north winds in the afternoon, and breezy northeast to east winds overnight in the high terrain of the Cascades. Poor to moderate humidity recoveries will affect upper slopes and ridges Tuesday night through Thursday night. As the thermal trough moves east Friday westerly winds will increase across the area. The outlook for October 2-8 is an increased probability of near normal temperatures and above normal precipitation.
